Ansel Adams: Portrait of Manzanar now on at the museum, as well as their award-winning exhibit An Island Story. Open 1-4 every day except Tuesday.

Bicycle Rentals

Summer Bike Rentals:  Bike Barn at the Ferry (June-September) 206-842-3433 or 206-795-4541. Call one day ahead of time to have a bike delivered to your door.  Winter Bike Rentals:  Classic Cycle.  Call to reserve yours at 206-842-9191. Check in at the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center for bike maps.

Bloedel Reserve

Reservations no longer required.  Kids map now available.  Plan on a 2 hour journey through extraordinary northwest landscape.  Winter hours 10-4 Wed-Sunday.  Lectures, events.  206-842-7631 

Kids Discovery Museum

Interactive exhibits.  Tues-Sat 10-4, Sun 12-4.  $5 admission, kids under 1 and m embers are free.  206-855-4650

Mochi Tsuki

January 2, 2011. Commemoration of the new year hosted by the Bainbridge Island Japanese Community at Islandwood.  Drumming performances, communal creation of sweet rice cakes.

February 27, 2011.  Annual bike race for the up and down the hills made by an ancient glacial retreat.

Celluloid (Bainbridge Island’s Film Festival)

Field’s End 5th Annual Writers’ Conference

April 16, 2011. Field’s End, a Writers’ Community, holds classes, a monthy Writers’ Roundtable, and lectures in the art and craft of writing.

Garden Conservancy’s Open Days

June 26, 2011.  Tour local gardens to benefit the Garden Conservancy. 

Bainbridge Island Rotary Auction & Sale

July 1 (Auction), July 2 (Sale).  Each year, the Rotary auction recycles island treasures, furnishes dorm rooms, and thrills bargain hunters.

Bloedel Reserve

Summer Concert Series, outside under a tent, overlooking spectacular Puget Sound -- classical, jazz, Celtic, programming for children.  Lecture Series winter/spring, including nationally-known gardening authors. Guided walks. Kid’s welcome. Reservations no longer needed.  Winter hours: Wed-Sun 10-4. 206-842-7631.

Farmer’s Market

Locally grown fresh vegetables and plants, locally produced jams, baked goods, and crafts.  Saturdays, April through October at Town Square in City Hall Park, 9-11, and mid-November through mid-December at Eagle Harbor Church 10-3.  

First Friday Gallery Walks

First Sunday Concerts in the Commons

Variety of musical artists, from classical to jazz.  One of our best kept secrets. The intimate setting allows quiet contemplation of the extraordinary musicianship -- classical and jazz -- brought to the island.  All First Sunday Concerts begin at 4 PM.  For tickets, call 206-842-3380.

Israeli Folk Dancing

Nordic Folk Dancing
