Description

Stunning views of Mt. Rainier, Olympics, Sound and Eagle Harbor. Five minutes by car or bus to ferry and downtown Winslow or a short walk/bike ride. Your suite is approximately 700 sq. ft. and consists of a spacious separate bedroom with a roomy walk-in closet; living room with a sofa group, TV cabinet and a woodstove; a good sized kitchen with a dining table that can sit 6 people and double up as your office table; a full bath. You have a queen bed in the separate bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room for comfortable sleeping of 4 adults. If you need to fit in some children there is also a fold-out full size bed and a fold-out baby crib.

Your waterfront beach suite is within the Wing Point Community, which is one of the most established neighborhoods on Bainbridge Island centered around Bainbridge’s only 18 hole golf course. You have a lawn outside your double french doors that has a fantastic view of both Mount Rainier, the Olympic Mountains, the Sound with ships passing by as far as the eye can see and Eagle Harbor with the ferry and lots of boats jetting in and out.

A 50 step staircase leads to your beach area where you can watch the gorgeous sunset over the Olympics from the comfortable beach furniture while you are enjoying your BBQ meal or borrow our kayaks for a ride. Or you can walk on the large beach for miles at low tide including to the ferry or downtown and play on the beach that goes out over 300 yards to sandy areas at low tide where you can almost touch the ferry when it passes by! After dark you can warm yourself in front or your beach fireplace.

With its South facing exposure you have sun virtually the entire day. It’s a very cozy, high quality, light and secure suite with its own private entrance comprising the entire lower level of a gorgeous house where the owners live off and on and is so very private and soundproof that usually you won’t hear us and we won’t hear you. You can light up the cozy woodstove, watch any of over 200 channels on a 32′ HD flat screen with DirecTV satellite, record any program on your DVR for easy viewing at your own convenience, order your own Pay-Per-View movie, watch a movie on the VCR or DVD, listen to a music CD on the boombox or snuggle up with a good book (we have a good inventory of each item). You can always stay in touch through the wireless fast broadband internet access and nationwide free telephone. Cook a gourmet meal on the gas stove (or the BBQ outside) in the large kitchen.

You can drive in 4 minutes or walk 25 minutes to charming downtown Winslow and the ferry, take a bus to 5 morning ferries and back from 5 evening ferries or use our 10-speed bike. This is an ideal spot for relaxing, visit with friends and family, explore our beautiful island including use as a stop during boating, live while remodeling or looking for a new house. Or use our suite as a beautiful home base for a Seattle business or social visit since it is within very convenient distance to the ferry like many daily commuters on our island do since they can combine a city work life with great island home life. You can stay for a couple of nights or an extended stay and we have complimentary coffee and tea waiting for you.

Some comments from our previous guests:

Highly recommended place…Great location & space….Everything was accurate from pictures to descriptions… A great deal especially in the off-season.

Our one night stay in this amazing downstairs location, with a beach and incredible views of the water, islands, and mainland, is one of the best I have ever had – quiet, clean, with coffee set up to make for the morning. A walk down the wooden steps takes you to the a beach and the waterline. Absolutely beautiful beachfront property. Would highly recommend it anytime of the year.

For our 12 anniversary…great location, loved the kayaking, walks to town on shore at low tide or cut across golf course at high tide. The bed was small, was a double…definitely not a queen. Needs some more games maybe. Everything perfect otherwise.

We enjoyed our weekend getaway at Abode on The Sea. It is a fantastic place to stay and is everything (and more) as described. For anyone visiting Bainbridge Island, this is the place to stay. Regards, Jeff & Renée

We stayed here for five nights with our eight year-old daughter. For us, one highlight was collecting sand dollars and clam shells in the mornings on what felt like our own private beach. We also enjoyed watching the ferry come and go out the window (unfortunately, it was never clear enough to see Mt. Rainier). The apartment was clean and comfortable, cozy, and private. We came to Bainbridge Island for a wedding; not sure if we would stay on the island otherwise though it might be a nice place for a getaway weekend.

We had such a wonderful stay in your vacation space. What a great find! I will always remember the scene from the windows. You should see how many pictures I took of the area. The neighborhood is beautiful. I think I must have awoken every morning and went out to see the ferry and your beautiful gardens. We will be back when we visit Seattle again. We also fell in love with Bainbridge Island. It was a perfect stay.
-Cindy
We enjoyed a relaxing weekend on the island thanks to your lovely suite! The place is lovely and we really appreciated it. Hope to be back soon!

My husband and I were invited here as a surprise and what a great relaxing, quiet getaway. Being with people you love, the warmth of a fire, sipping on a cup of coffee while looking over the water. This is what makes those precious memories. Would love to come back in the summer.
-Carol
Thanks so much for a lovely stay. We so appreciated the opportunity to enjoy time with our kids in your lovely suite. We really enjoyed your place and will recommend it to our friends. Thanks again

What else could you ask for? We stayed at Abode On the Sea while house-hunting for our retirement home. What a perfect introduction to life on the island — much better than staying in a hotel. After a full day of looking at houses, what could be better than to sit out on a private patio with a glass of wine and watch the ferry gliding by on Eagle Harbor?

The apartment was exactly as described and pictured, but the pictures and description don’t let you know how comfortable it will be. It’s close to Winslow by car and not a bad walk on foot. The Hagstromers have detailed suggestions for restaurants, shops, and recreational activities available on the island. It’s easy to get to and from the ferry terminal, and so you have convenient access to Seattle and big-city fun without the noise and pace.

We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay and recommend Abode On the Sea without qualification. And yes, we found a lovely home on the island and love living here, so we considered our stay a resounding success.
